This is a unique tour outside the crowded touristic areas of Athens but at the heart of it’s modern history! Witness the Athenian way of life, see by yourself the modern daily life, learn the historical events that defined the modern history of Greece and learn about the political and economical problems that Greece is facing and how they affect the everyday life.
We meet at Syntagma square, the most central and historic square in Athens, and we start our walk by heading to Kolonaki district, one of the most expensive districts downtown, where we’ll admire the elegant architecture of this neighborhood and we’ll blend in with busy Athenian Professionals and witness the upmarket lifestyle.
Our next stop will be Exarcheia neighborhood, an alternative and controversial neighborhood, rich in history and culture and full of student life. While we continue our tour we’ll see the historic building of Polytechnio (National Technical University of Athens) which defined the modern history of Greece and has some great as well as dramatic stories to tell. As we leave behind the area of Polytechnio we ‘ll see the modern architecture of Patision street and Omonoia square.
Then through the famous Panepistimiou and Stadiou streets we will have a stop at outside each one of the three gems of Athens namely Academy – University – Library which are also known as the Trilogy of Athens. Our tour ends at the old parliament building and the area around, known for the modern cafes and the cozy bars, where we’ll be happy to give you any further information or tips you might want in order to explore Athens like a local!
